With that most important fact out of the way, I will now argue why it is a very big mistake to avoid architects when contemplating starting a building project. I have heard many reasons advanced by those who avoid or are planning to sidestep architects for their building projects. “ Architects are expensive”. “Architects aren’t better than me when it comes to design”. “I would rather use a draftsman – they give me the same or even better at a tenth of what the architect would charge” .
